first conceptual design
The client envisioned a home that could move with the rhythms of his family — a place to call home for part of the year, and to welcome others while they were away. A private rental unit would create an additional source of income, connected to the arrival yet thoughtfully separated for privacy. A modular approach brought these needs together, allowing the home to be assembled with greater simplicity and less on-site labor.
design challenges
to turn the efficiency of modular construction into a meaningful architectural experience. Rather than concentrating the program into a single mass, the modules were intentionally separated, creating a minimalist composition where the spaces between them became places of connection.
The voids create multiple paths through the house, open-air walkways and unexpected moments of encounter, transforming circulation into part of the living experience. Transparency, generous openings and deep overhangs blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, allowing light, air and vegetation to flow through the architecture.
